Altyagach National Park
Altyagach National Park - Altyagach National Park was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 365 of August 31, 2004 in the administrative territory of the Khizi and Siyazan regions. The National Park is located in the north-east of Azerbaijan, on the administrative territory of the Khizi and Siyazan regions. Altyagach National Park was created on the basis of the Altyagach State Nature Reserve established in 1990 and the adjacent territories of the State Forest Fund. The area of the park is 11035 hectares. The main goal of the National Park was to preserve and restore the natural landscape and samples of flora and fauna on the southeastern slopes of the Greater Caucasus, enhance the protection of natural complexes, conduct environmental monitoring, and create conditions for research, tourism and recreation (recreation) and organization of environmental education of the population. The name of the National Park of Altiagach is derived from the word "agach" - units of distance measurement. Due to the fact that the National Park is located in 6 agachi from Shamakhi, he and one of the villages were given the name Altyagach ("altas" - six). One agach is approximately 5-6 kilometers. On the territory of the National Park, brown mountain-forest, humus-carbonate mountain-forest, brown mountain-forest, steppe mountain meadow and other types of soils are common. On the territory of the National Park of Altiagach, the Atachay River flows and several small tributaries. Atachai originates on Mount Dubrar at an altitude of 1870 meters and flows into the Caspian Sea. The waters of the river are used for irrigation purposes. Most of the National Park is covered by forests. The main types of trees that make up the local forests are the Caucasian oak, the Caucasian hornbeam, the oriental beech, the ordinary ash, the birch bark. Of the shrubby plants in the Park dominate hawthorn, blackberries, medlar, dzhiderelevo and gooseberries. From mammals in the territory of the National Park Altyagach there are such species as roe deer, brown bear, steppe pig, lynx, raccoon, hare, fox, squirrel, wolf; of birds - pheasant, whiten, quail, goat, steppe eagle, partridge, thrush. The most attention is attracted to various species of eagles, listed in the Red Book of Azerbaijan. At the National Park of Altiagach, the Center for the Restoration of Wild Nature and the Rehabilitation Clinic operate.
