At present, the total area of the nature protection area is 42,797 hectares.
The park was named after Academician Hasan Aliyev, which should also be devoted to his share of attention. Hasan Aliyev in Azerbaijan is called the patriarch of natural sciences. This is really a very famous and important scientist. This person, according to the whole world community, is truly one of the most outstanding personalities of the country. Aliyev devoted his life and creative way to his people. Gasan was born in the beginning of the 20th century, he graduated from the agricultural technical school first, and then the Institute of Agriculture. And immediately went to the scientific field. Hasan's innate talent was realized in such areas as geography, agriculture, agrobiology, soil science, and ecology.

But now we will return to the park itself. It was established to carry out conservation measures in the habitats of many Red Data Book species. Thus, the years of work of the Zangezur National Park have positively affected the populations of such animals as the Transcaucasian moufflon, bezoar goat, brown bear, leopard, hyena and Transcaucasian black grouse, bustard, golden eagle, white-tailed sea eagle. This is a list of the most important species of mammals and birds living on the territory of Zangezur Park.

In the rest, the local nature is also valuable and amazing. For example, it contains 58 species of insects and plants introduced into the Red Book of Azerbaijan. Bezoar goat, he is just a bearded goat (Capra aegagrus), represents a cloven-hoofed animal of the Polorohidae family. Like all artiodactyls, the bezoar goat is a fairly large animal. In length, his body grows to 1.5 m, in the girth - about 25 cm. This animal has curved horns of a saber-like shape. Their length is sometimes about 130 cm, and in the girth they often have 25 cm.

The woolen covering of the bearded goat is reddish-grayish, in places on the goat body there are darker, almost even black areas. This goat sits in most cases in hard-to-reach areas, where an abundance of rocks, gorges and precipices is noted. In summer, bezoar goats like to climb high into the mountains, almost to the level of eternal snows. In addition, it is worth considering that bezoar goat - herd polygamous animal. Only in the mating season you can see single males. Separately it is necessary to say about the diet of these animals: it is mainly herbaceous and shrubby vegetation.
